The history of Baoshutang dates back to the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty, founded by the Xie family, and was originally known as "Xie’s Shop" in Taiwan Province. Development Journey
Baoshutang, a brand with a profound history, was formally established in Beijing in 1989 by Mr. Xie Kunzong, the seventh-generation successor of the Xie family. Mr. Xie has served as the Chairman of the Beijing Taiwanese Business Association, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Foreign Investment Enterprise Association, and Vice Chairman of the Beijing Overseas Friendship Association. He is currently Honorary Chairman of the Beijing Taiwanese Business Association.
Mr. Xie invested in the construction of Beijing Baoshutang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which later became Beijing Baoshutang Technology Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Since the production of its first product in 1989, Baoshutang Baofuling® has earned the trust and support of countless consumers for its exceptional quality.
Brand Transformation
From 1989 to 2003, Baofuling was the flagship product of the company, renowned for its outstanding quality and remarkable efficacy. Over more than a decade of success, Baofuling built a strong reputation and won widespread acclaim from customers.
In 2003, in compliance with the national regulation issued by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), which required products included in the national drug standards to adopt their generic names, the brand officially renamed the product to "Compound Camphor Cream" while retaining "Baofuling【宝肤灵】" as its former name. To ensure that loyal customers could continue to recognize and differentiate the product, the company registered the trademark "Baoshutang Baofuling®."

Packaging Evolution in China
- 1972: In Taiwan Province, Baoshutang developed a product known as "Meifu Cream【美膚乳膏】", the predecessor of Baofuling【宝肤灵】.
- 1989: The first jar of Baoshutang Baofuling®was launched in mainland China and has since been produced domestically and distributed worldwide.
- 1991–2001: Baoshutang Baofuling® underwent several packaging redesigns.
- 2003: Following the regulations of the National Medical Products Administration, the flagship product Baofuling was officially renamed "Compound Camphor Cream", with Baofuling retained as its former name.
- 2017: In response to the rise of counterfeit products, Baoshutang upgraded its packaging to include anti-counterfeiting features. The new design featured a white circular packaging with improved sealing, replacing the classic blue cap and white bottle design that had been in use for many years.
